Portuguese & Luso Brazilian Studies 2016
Portuguese Studies
The Portuguese Studies program taught me a lot about the amazing writers Portugal has to offer, and it also helped me improve my confidence in speaking and writing in Portuguese with my family.
Studies, Work and Volunteering
After graduating from York, I went on to study Sport Management at Humber College.
Since graduating from York I have been working at the University of Toronto, as well as West Toronto Skating Club, coaching both figure skaters and hockey players on improving their skating techniques.
I visited high schools, as well as middle schools to speak with Portuguese speaking students regarding continuing their education as well as what they can expect as they advance in their academic career. I also assisted LusoGolf with their golf tournament where money is raised to give out as scholarships to students.
Travel after York
After graduating from York, I travelled to Portugal for one month to visit friends and family. (the photo above is in Sintra, Portugal).
Future plans – commitment with the Portuguese community
To start my own powerskating school and work with elite athletes. I also plan to work as a certified kinesiologist and obtain my certification as a personal trainer to offer more training workshops for athletes. I would also like to start my own Lusophone Club within the Portuguese-Speaking community to raise scholarships for Portuguese-speaking students to continue in their academic careers.
