Julian Watson
History 2019
My time as an undergraduate at York University's History Program was a beneficial experience to my long-term goals, both professionally and personally. As a freshman, I was introduced to the varying perspectives and methods of teaching that were brought by each individual professor. Whether it was the importance of collective memory, or the the exact parameters that defined a 'Canadian identity ', the lessons I've learned have proved immeasurable to the study of domestic and world history. In particular, the bonds that were created during my time in the Public History, as well as British History programs, proved that personal growth is just as meaningful as professional growth. Working with classmates and professors ensured a positive and welcoming environment that made course material easy to digest and study. All in all, the History Program at York University is one that guarantees excellent growth in more ways than one.
