Linguistics 2011
One of the great things about Linguistics at York was the interaction with the professors. I graduated in 2011 and am still in touch with faculty members at York today! I also loved the sense of community that developed between my classmates. It was very useful to be able to work through the problem sets we were assigned together, and to bounce ideas off of each other. An education in linguistics gives you important transferable skills, like problem solving, critical thinking, and argumentation. Linguists are also needed in order to help preserve endangered languages and prevent language discrimination. My undergraduate degree in Linguistics at York helped set me up to pursue first a Master's, and then a PhD.
