Kathleen Cherrington
Sexuality Studies
The professors are amazing in the sexuality studies program, and the students come from very diverse backgrounds and lifestyles. This program helps to challenge societal norms and has expanded my mind to see the world in a different light. I have learned a lot about power dynamics in relation to social orders and structures, and the history of how these modes of power came to existence.
While at York I've been pleasantly surprised that there were many mature students, such as myself, which helped me become more comfortable on campus. Also the younger students always have made me feel included in extra-curricular events as I was invited to be an executive member of the Undergraduate Sexuality Studies Association, and I was also voted student represent for undergraduate sexuality studies council in my first year.
