Rana Khalil
Human Resource Associate, TD Bank
Human Resources Management, Bachelor of Human Resources Management (BHRM), Honours 2011
I joined the School of HRM at York University in 2007, and throughout the program I was taught by incredible faculty that had senior level experience in Business and HR. The opportunity to learn from valuable industry leaders not only motivated and inspired me to do my best, but also provided a realistic and relevant learning atmosphere. In my fourth year I gained an internship opportunity through one of my Professors at Holt Renfrew Co., which gave me HR experience to add to my resume as well an opportunity to transfer my in-class learning to a professional work environment.
After graduating magna cum laude in 2011, I took on management roles within the Retail Banking space at TD Canada Trust. A few years later, I consulted two of my most influential Professors from the SHRM who were always there to share their guidance and support, and decided to apply to a post-graduate degree. In 2014, I graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters of Industrial Relations and Human Resources, and received my CHRP accreditation. I then spent 6 months at TD Bank Group as a Talent Acquisition Partner where I supported high volume recruitment needs for our Retail Banking Sector. My focus was to plan, build, and supply high quality and diverse talent pipelines to our branches across the GTA. Currently, I am an HR Associate for TD Securities where I support our capital markets business. My responsibilities include implementing HR programs and initiatives, compensation cycle delivery, performance management, as well as talent development.
My career is only just getting started, and I have high hopes and goals to achieve more. Ultimately, the School of Human Resource Management at York University gave me the foundation and knowledge to be successful in my career, the confidence and motivation to set high goals for myself, and the determination to always do my very best. I am truly grateful for that experience and would encourage any future student looking for a fulfilling and rewarding education in HR to choose the School of HRM.
