Remi Warner
Senior Manager, Human Rights Office, Toronto District School Board
Anthropology
I currently lead a team of nine staff at the HRO whom provide system leadership at the Board protecting human rights and promoting and advancing a culture of human rights in TDSB schools and workplaces. I spent most of the last decade at the Ontario Human Rights Commission, as a Senior Policy staffer (2010-2016, 2017-18), as well as a two-year stint in Cabinet Office (2016 and 2017) as Special Advisor and then Manager at the Anti-Racism Directorate, where I helped to form and shape the mandate and structure of the Anti-Racism Directorate, and the Ontario Government’s A Better Way Forward: Ontario’s 3 Year Anti-Racism Strategic Plan and Province’s Anti-Racism Act, 2017, the first of its kind in North America. One of my career highlights was being selected as one of two delegates to represent Ontario as part of Canada’s delegation in presentation of its 21st to 23rd periodic reports at the 2566th and 2567th meetings of the United Nations Committee for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, held on 14 and 15 August, 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland. I attach a couple of pictures from the UN in Geneva from that experience, for your amusement!
