Scott Allardyce
Senior Policy Advisor (Retired), Government of Ontario Ministry Treasury Board Secretariat
Graduate Program in Public Policy, Administration & Law, Master of Public Policy, Administration and Law (MPPAL) 2017
Political Science BA, 1990
During my last professional placement in the Ontario Government I led an employment program to assist people with disabilities find meaningful employment opportunities in Government. I also became an expert related to accessibility building design and public spaces. I was able to obtain expert knowledge in municipal government and a special education policy during my career. I continue to provide public policy advice in my community related to disability issues and I have created the Canadian Disability Alliance on Facebook in 2009 to support people with disabilities and their families. I also continue to review resumes and provide employment advice to job-seekers with disabilities.
Before returning to York University to receive my masters in public policy, administration and law (MPPAL) my career was stagnant and I needed to make a change. Having an undergraduate degree is important but in public policy a masters degree is essential to demonstrate skills and abilities that public policy professionals must possess. Going back to York after 27 years was difficult but rewarding. I met a group of wonderful people and have great respect for all the professors and staff at the University.
