Sharon Atim
International Development Studies
Before I joined York University, I always thought my calling was in business or economics so when I read about the International Development program at York the first thing that came to my mind was that maybe it would simply supplement on my already acquired field of knowledge. But the more I got familiar with the program the more I realized my calling is in the humanitarian field.
Through the use of an efficient and relevant stocked materials in the library (videos, documentaries and written literature), York University vividly displayed the plight of so many poor and disadvantaged people around the world and sometimes it felt like my classes were too depressing but am glad these changed my mindset and gave me an awakening of where and how exactly I want to spend the rest of my life - helping the people who need it the most.
