‘Bending the Arc’, March 15, 2018, 4:00 pm – 6:15 pm , Senate Chamber, 9th floor, N Ross
Bending the Arc is a powerful documentary about the extraordinary team of doctors and activists including Paul Farmer, Jim Yong Kim and Ophelia Dahl, whose work 30 years ago to save lives in a rural Haitian village grew into a global health revolution based on justice, equity and the right to health for all. Epic, yet intimate, the film is a compelling argument for the power of collective and personal vision and will to turn the tide of history. The film showing will be followed by a panel of discussants including Mark Brender, national director, Partners in Health, Canada and faculty members from Anthropology and Health. The event is co-sponsored by the Faculty of Health, Department of Anthropology, and the York student chapter of Partners in Health Canada.
