AP/ANTH 4350 3.00 Perspectives in Visual Anthropology
Visual anthropology is a sub-discipline of anthropology that studies the production and reception of visual media, the visual practices humans employ, human understandings of the visual, and the impacts of the visual on various aspects of human life. Visual anthropologists also use visual methods to document their research. This course provides a survey of methods and theories of visual anthropology that allow us to explore, analyze, and use visual tools and materials in critical ways.
