Company Bio:

The Black Creek Youth Initiative (BCYI), established in 2018, was created in response to challenges highlighted by the community's youth. BCYI provides essential programs that equip young individuals with the necessary tools and resources to navigate systemic barriers and boost their mental well-being. The initiative emerged from a recognized need within the community to engage youth in activities that foster skill development through professional guidance, experiential learning, mentorship, leadership training, and active community participation. Utilizing an art-based framework, BCYI encourages creative expression to promote equity and build leadership skills, ensuring the growth and well-being of the community's younger generation.

Job Description:

The Black Creek Youth Initiative (BCYI) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Communication Placement Student to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community engagement, media relations, and content creation within a dynamic non-profit organization.

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and content management systems.
  • Creative thinking and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for community development and youth empowerment.

Additional Assets:

Candidates with knowledge of audio production platforms like Adobe Audition and ProTools, proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, and experience with social media management tools (Hootsuite, Buffer) are highly desirable. Skills in graphic design using Canva, and managing social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter are also valuable. Additionally, a creative and innovative mindset, capable of generating fresh ideas for campaigns and community engagement, will greatly enhance the communication efforts at BCYI.
