He is a doctoral candidate in the Communication and Culture program at York University with an MA in Communication from the University of Ottawa and a BA in the same field from Simon Fraser University. His doctoral research project studies the digital media consumption pattern of Chinese international students during and after the COVID-19 pandemic and its influences on their identity negotiation. This project also studies their digital media habits to understand its influence on student’s attitudes toward the recent rise in anti-Asian racism. Some topics he would like to discuss in this essay include the intercultural experiences of new migrants and how sexuality, gender and city of origin affect new migrants’ adaptation.
