Public Diplomacy as Communication
Examines “public diplomacy” as communication and cultural strategies used by states to promote “national interests” and foreign policy goals through understanding, interacting with, informing and influencing publics worldwide. Case studies of various states will be examined including the history, theory, organization, policies and practices of public diplomacy with a particular focus on the United States. Course credit exclusion: AP/COMN 4805 6.00 (prior to Fall 2012).
