Company Bio:

Mary-Margaret McMahon is the Member of Provincial Parliament for Beaches-East York in Toronto. We are a small team who assist in the work of the MPP as it relates to our Riding and legislative affairs.

Job Description:

  • Students will have a chance to learn alongside MPP Mary-Margaret McMahon, who represents the riding of Beaches-East York at Queen's Park. MPP McMahon is also the Critic for The
  • Environment and Climate Change. The student will be an integral member of a small team and will assist with public relations, communications, and design needs. Note: Time will be split between working in-person at Queen's Park and in-person at our Community Hub on the Danforth (Coxwell Station).
  • Responsibilities:
    • Co-write and edit content that connects with our core audience including social media content, Legislative questions/debates, and website material.
    • Support the development of inspiring and engaging stories, videos, photos, blog, etc.
    • Co-write letters addressed to Ministers, Stakeholders, etc.
    • Monitor SEO and user engagement and suggest content optimization.
    • Support outreach by co-organizing meetings, townhalls.
    • Research and identify opportunities for policy interest areas and increasing constituent and community engagement.

Qualifications:

  • A strong writer who can break down complex information and present to the general public.
  • Strong editing skills.
  • Knowledge of news media and social media platforms.
  • Excited team player who can work independently or with others!

Additional Assets:

  • Graphic design skills (Canva).
  • Familiar with MailChimp.
  • Knowledge of word programs (excel).
  • Background knowledge of Ontario and Canadian politics.
