Position Title: Communications & Marketing Assistant

The Ralph Thornton Community Center is a City owned, community managed facility which offers space, support, and service to many community organizations and partners. RTCC is where neighbours meet, events are celebrated, programs are enjoyed, and support is exchanged. We develop programs, nourish culture, and empower resident action. We work with other agencies, individuals, and groups to build the capacity of a caring, healthy, and vibrant community.

Job Description:

In this role, you'll provide support for RTCC's Fundraising and Communications Coordinator in managing our digital media, print, and other outreach, including assisting with posting, newsletter and poster production, and special event publicity. Additionally, you'll help with RTCC's new digital communications strategy via research, reports, and analytics.

A successful applicant should have the following:

  • Experience with social media.
  • Strong research, analytics, and writing skills.

  • Open and communicative about their abilities and limitations.
  • Proactive and take the initiative.

Additional Assets:

  • An interest in the community and nonprofit sectors and/or community organizing.
  • Familiarity or knowledge of Chinese language and community (a major portion of the community we serve is Chinese-speaking).
  • Experience with social media account management.
  • Familiarity with a social media toolkit program (ex. Buffer, Hootsuite).
  • Experience with Mailchimp and Microsoft Office Suite (ex. Excel).
  • Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop (or equivalent programs).
