At Founders College, you will find places to study and socialize, as well as opportunities to participate in a variety of academic and social events in more intimate settings. Founders is also where you'll find College Fellows, support staff and student organizations that contribute to the intellectual life of the college.

Black History Month Installation

Join us as we celebrate Black History Month! Throughout February 2025, Founders College will host an installation in the LA&PS Community Hub (001 Vanier College) featuring outstanding work completed by fellow students! Stay tuned for details.

What We Offer

Advancing YU

Designed specifically for third- and fourth- year women and/or Black-identifying students, Advancing YU is a mentorship program that pairs students with York alumni who have found success in their chosen fields.

Since our founding in 1965 as the first college at York, Founders College, its academic leaders, Fellows and students have participated actively in the development of the university.

College Head: Daniel Kikulwe

Assistant Professor, School of Social Work

Dr. Kikulwe's area of academic interest is in child welfare practices, policies, families, and immigration. Other areas of research interests relate to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Children and its applicability to the global south, as well as kinship care trends in Canada.

As the College Head of Founders College, he is deeply commitment to supporting  student initiatives that promote their self identities, cultures, and communities.
