Job Description:
The Awards & Bursaries team, in collaboration with all departments within LA&PS, is responsible for the selection and adjudication process of over 300 awards within LA&PS. This team also manages the Dean’s Circle of Student Scholars (DCSS) program, which provides DCSS students an opportunity to attend luncheons, guest lectures and networking workshops.
The LA&PS Awards & Scholarships, Peer Mentor is responsible for providing administrative, clerical and event support with LA&PS student award operations. Under the direction of the Manager, Student Awards and the Student Award Coordinators, the LA&PS Awards & Scholarships, Peer Mentor will aid in reviewing the awards information on the LA&PS awards webpage to ensure the information is up to date and aid in creating award application forms. This position will also help with the with the promotion of LA&PS awards and administrative tasks related to the Deans Circle of Student Scholars (DCSS), including the promotion of DCSS events through the creation of marketing materials and distribution of communications as required.
The LA&PS Awards & Scholarships, Peer Mentor will assist in the planning of DCSS events by aiding in facilitation of programming and activities for each session. They will assist in the coordination of a peer mentorship program for senior DCSS members to engage with new/and junior members to foster skills necessary for academic, personal, and professional success.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Provide peer mentorship support to DCSS students.
- Triage students to Faculty and campus resources, as needed.
- Support with awards organization on LA&PS website.
- Support with awards data management on LA&PS website.
- Provide general administrative support to the LA&PS Student Awards team.
- Update contact lists and bulletin boards.
- Support with updating LA&PS Student Awards information.
- Support with events, special projects, and activities.
- Assist with room booking for LA&PS student award events.
- Assist with the creation of marketing and digital advertising materials.
- Preparing event posters to be posted in designated promotion areas.
- Submitting event listings and poster images to various community partners for additional promotion.
- Assist with tracking attendance numbers for events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current Undergraduate York University student
- Must be in good academic standing
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative
- Knowledge of York’s services and resources for students
- Previous administrative or clerical support an asset

Education
Must be enrolled as a York student.
Experience
