LA&PS Colleges are here to support upper year students to help make your time at York a more enriching, happy and social experience. Below are some suggestions in an easy-to-use checklist that will help you stay organized and take advantage of all the resources available to you.
Step 1: Complete the Basics

Meet with an Academic Advisor to ensure you’re meeting credit requirements and taking the right courses for graduation.

Use the LA&PS Student Resource Guide. It will provide resources for academic and student services, LA&PS volunteer opportunities, leadership development and a LA&PS graduation checklist.

Take advantage of student supports like the Writing Centre, Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS), Student Numeracy Assistance (SNACK), Learning Skills and more.

Submit your FAAS Application each term to get matched with scholarships, awards and bursaries.

Download York’s Safety app, or call goSafe at 416-736-5454 to be accompanied to any campus location when needed.
Step 2: Develop Skills for Your Resume and Get Career Ready

Complete the Leading with LA&PS program to improve your leadership skills and obtain a certificate of completion. Finish four workshops and earn a leadership certificate to level up your resume.

Gain experience through the LA&PS Co-op Program or on-campus volunteering. Opportunities include Peer Mentoring, College Crew Volunteers, Vanier College Productions or writing for LA&PS Voices Blog.

Book a Career Centre appointment for help with careers, resumes, cover letters and grad school applications.
Step 3: Get Social and Build Your Network

Join a student club or student council to explore your passions, build skills and make lasting friendships.

Study, snack, play and hang out at the LA&PS Community Hub (VC 001, Tuesday - Thursday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.).

Participate in networking opportunities such as Student & Alumni Mixers, Career Fairs and Employer Recruitment Sessions.
