A “Course Overload” petition is a request to take more than the maximum number of credits in a semester.
At a Glance
When the Committee considers a Course Overload petition, one of three decisions will result:
- Granted, you may enrol in your requested number of credits.
- Partially Granted, the Committee has granted some but not all of your additionally requested credits.
- Refused.
Guidelines
The following is a general guide for preparing and writing a petition for a Course Overload:
General Responsibility
It is your responsibility to take your circumstances into consideration, and to assess whether you will be able to successfully complete an increased course load.
Statement of Grounds
This is your personal letter and must provide a detailed, specific account on how you will plan to be successful in these courses. Your statement should also explain why you need to take more than the maximum number of credits and how many credits you plan to take in total.
Documentation
A Course Timetable is required for this petition. You may use the Visual Schedule Builder offered by the Registrars Office to display all the courses you are enrolled in and the courses you wish to add.
