Degree Requirements

These petitions are a request to alter, or waive the requirements for degree continuation and completion. These requirements can be both Program and Faculty level.

Degree Requirement Waived or Altered

With extenuating circumstances, you may petition to have a degree requirement waived for an upper-level, elective, general education or residency course.

Required Forms/Documents

  • Online Petition Application
  • Statement of Grounds (student’s personal letter)
  • Relevant Supporting Documentation

Waive Honours Standing Regulations

Due to extenuating circumstances, you wish to continue in a 120-credit honours program despite not having met the required average(s) needed to continue past the 90 earned credits check point.

Required Documentation:

  • Online Petition Application
  • Statement of Grounds (student’s personal letter) to include:
    • Major(s)/Minor of intended program
    • List of courses that student must/would like to take
    • Grades/averages student will need to achieve over those courses
  • Relevant Supporting Documentation

Take Additional Credits, 90-Credit Degree

Take additional credits beyond the permitted maximum (90 earned credits + 12 additional) in an attempt to earn the average(s) required for a 90-credit degree.

Required Documentation:

  • Online Petition Application
  • Statement of Grounds (student’s personal letter) to include:
    • Major or intended program
    • List of courses you must/would like to take
    • Grades/averages needed over those courses
  • Relevant Supporting Documentation
