A “Waiver of Letter of Permission Deadline” petition is a request to waive the deadline to submit your application to take a course at another university for degree credit to York.
At a Glance
Students must be in good academic standing to be eligible for an LOP and they must earn a grade of C in the courses they take at another university to earn the credits. The decision that the Committee on Student Academic Petitions makes is restricted to considering whether or not to waive the application deadline. The Registrar’s Office will decide the merits of the LOP.
When the Committee considers a petition to Waive the Letter of Permission Deadline, one of two decisions will result:
- Granted, the application may be submitted past the deadline.
- Refused.

It is your responsibility to take your circumstances into consideration, and to assess whether you will be able to successfully complete courses taken both at York and the other university.
Statement of Grounds
This is your personal letter and must provide a detailed, specific account on how you will plan to be successful in these courses. Your statement should also explain why you need to take more than the maximum number of credits and how many credits you plan to take in total.

Important Note
