Waiver of University Deadlines

These petitions are a request to waive the previously published institutional or faculty deadlines.

Late Withdrawal

A formal written request by a student which outlines the extenuating circumstances that may warrant the faculty to waive the institutional published deadlines.

Required Documentation: 

  1. Statement of Grounds
  2. Course Performance Summary (CPS) Form (PDF)

Please review the Senate policy regarding Late Withdrawal petitions.

Some suggested additional supporting documentation you may consider including are counsellor’s statements, Attending Physician’s Statement (APS) (PDF), hospitalization records, disability verification forms, death certificate or an obituary.

First Year Late Withdrawal

Waive the withdrawal deadline of a course completed in your first year of study at York.

Required Documentation: 

  1. Online Petition Application which must include a list of the petitioned courses
  2. Statement of Grounds

Enrol or Re-Enrol Late in a Course

Request to add a course after the enrolment deadline.

Required Documentation:

  1. Online Petition Application
  2. Relevant supporting documentation
    Note: a York Attending Physician’s Statement (APS) (PDF) is strongly suggested to document medical grounds.

Waiver of Pass/Fail Deadline

Retain the credits earned in a course but waive the requirement of the final grade being counted toward the overall GPA. This can only be applied to elective courses.
