LA&PS Support for Scholarly Journals
Deadline: Mar. 31, 2016
The objective of this fund, at present a 5-year pilot initiative, is to offset costs related to the successful operations of scholarly journals for which LA&PS faculty members hold substantial, on-going senior editorial roles.

SSHRC Small Grants Program
Deadline: Mar. 31, 2016
To provide support to full-time SSHRC-eligible faculty members and professional librarians for pilot studies, ‘opportunistic’ small projects, and projects not readily funded elsewhere.
LA&PS Minor Research Grant
Deadline: Apr. 15, 2016
Within the eligibility requirements set out in the guidelines, YUFA Faculty in LA&PS can apply for up to $5000 from this fund.

York Incentive Grant
Deadline: Rolling
To provide support to defray costs that are essential to the preparation of a successful grant application, such as those associated with assembling collaborative teams. It is intended to assist larger-scale initiatives in the quest for external funding. These grants are not awarded to support the preparation of applications for the standard programs of research support (e.g., NSERC Discovery, SSHRC Connections Grants, and SSHRC Insight and Insight Development Grants). Applications will be considered in support of the development of larger-scale tri-council applications.

External Notices
CHRP to Continue another Five Years
CIHR and NSERC have signed a new memorandum of understanding that will support the Collaborative Health Research Projects (CHRP) initiative for the next five years. CIHR will continue to provide administrative support for the delivery of the CHRP initiative, in collaboration with NSERC, to ensure its success.
The funding level will remain consistent with the amount identified in the previous MOU. The launch date for the 2016-17 competition will be announced in the coming weeks.

Huawei Innovation Research Program

More Years / Better Lives

The More Years / Better Lives call is sponsored by 13 leading research funding agencies, including SSHRC and CIHR, from 11 European countries and Canada. Funding will support transnational research teams seeking to improve the understanding of how different approaches to welfare secure quality of life, especially for older people.
The objective is to develop comparative perspectives on “welfare models”, and the ways in which they are changing, drawing on the great diversity of approaches to welfare across Europe and Canada. Because welfare models involve a complex interaction of public, private and voluntary activity, the research will draw on expertise from many academic disciplines, therefore proposals are expected to have an interdisciplinary nature.

NCE International Knowledge Translation Platforms

The Association of Commonwealth Universities: Early Career Academic Grants competition.

Designed to assist early career academics from ACU member universities to attend relevant conferences or academic meetings in another Commonwealth country, they are aimed at those who have not previously undertaken travel outside their home regions for academic purposes.

Canada Council: Killam Research Fellowships

Agency Deadline: May 15, 2016
A fellowship from this program provides two full years of release time, beginning no later than 1 January following notification of the fellowship (you may not request less than the full two-year fellowship period). The support for the second year depends on approval of your interim report.
