Shaudin Melgar-Foraster was born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. After moving to Canada she obtained a Ph.D at the University of Toronto. She taught at the University of Toronto, Brock University and McMaster University. Since 2003, she has been teaching at York University: Catalan and Spanish language courses, as well as Catalan culture and Latin American literature. She is a published writer of short stories and novels, and the recipient of two literary awards.
