Petrarch: Love, Women and Power

An exploration of Petrarch’s Canzoniere and its influence on European poetry. This courses analyzes the way the life of women at the end of the Middle Ages is represented by Petrarch and by the different traditions of European poetry. Prerequisite: AP/IT 2200 3.00 or AP/IT 2200 6.00 or permission of the department. Course credit exclusion: AP/IT 3360 6.00, AP/IT 3361 6.00. Language of Instruction: English
Students enrolled in a Major or Minor in Italian Studies may be required to complete some coursework in Italian language.
