Orlando Furioso: Renaissance Bestseller
This course examines Ludovico Ariosto’s Orlando Furioso in the context of Italian Renaissance culture. Following an interdisciplinary approach, we will consider the poem’s place in the chivalric tradition, investigate the material conditions of its reception, and examine its widespread influence on the literature and art of the Cinquecento.
Prerequisites: AP/IT 2200 3.0 or AP/IT 2200 6.00 or permission of the department. Language of Instruction: English. Students enrolled in a Major or Minor in Italian Studies may be required to complete all coursework in Italian language.
