Economics Professor Uros Petronijevic’s 2018 co-authored paper is discussed in an Inside Higher Ed article and a Vox column. Petronijevic and his coauthors document that student study time is quite low across three distinct university campuses and design and implement an intervention to help students better manage their time and increase study effort. Despite high take up and student engagement, they find that neither study time nor academic performance improved as a result of the intervention. Although the intervention was ineffective, the research helps shed light on the current landscape in higher education and what an effective intervention might look like.
