Elena Basile is a teacher, translator and inter-media artist working along the fuzzy edges of multiple corporeal, linguistic and cultural trajectories of belonging. Her areas of scholarly and artistic research include psychoanalysis, queer theory and translation studies. She is particularly interested in the (self) translation practices and multilingual poetics of contemporary trans, queer and feminist writers from Canada and is interested in the ecologies of linguistic diversity they contribute to. She collaborates regularly with artists and academics in Italy, France and Canada, and among her inter-media collaborations, is a participatory experiment in affective urban mapping, or the TiP Lab  (Paul H. Crocker Gallery, 2015Arrivals + Departures, Myseum Intersection Festival 2018). Presently, she is editing an anthology of Barbara Godard’s writings on translation together with Eva Karpinski for Routledge’s “Key Thinkers of Translation” Series (Translation, Semiotics and Feminism: Selected Works of Barbara Godard, Routledge, 2021).
