Aida Jordão, PhD, is a theatre scholar and practitioner whose research, teaching, and theatre-making build on her dissertation, “Inês de Castro in Theatre and Film: A Feminist Exhumation of the Dead Queen” (Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies, University of Toronto). She is committed to feminist analysis and community-engaged artistic practice; in 2019 she received the Mayworks Artist Award for Excellence in Contribution to Labour Arts and she currently directs plays for The Toronto Workers’ History Project. Publications include: “Teaching Inesian Literature in Canadian Universities: How the Dead Queen Genders Portuguese History,” Portuguese Studies Review 28.1, 2020; “From O Nosso Baile (Our Dance) to O Nosso Fado (Our Song): Portuguese-Canadian Sex-Role Stereotypes and Theatre”, Theatre and (Im)migration, 2019; and the play, Funeral in White, in Memória: An Anthology of Portuguese Canadian Writers, 2013.
