Zahra Barzegar
Zahra Barzegar is a Ph.D. student and teaching assistant at York University. Her research interests include contemporary poetry, ecocriticism, environmental imagination, and creative writing. Her MA thesis focused on Lawrence Buell’s mimetic and referential strategies of Adéquation and Référance in the poetry of Charles Tomlinson. Her thesis showed in what ways Tomlinson’s poems approach the reader to the natural environment. Zahra writes poems, stories, and plays. Her first play, Wandering Voices, was staged in Tehran in January and February 2022. Zahra has worked as an editor, content writer, and translator for two literary agencies and a publishing house in Iran. She was also the co-editor of Pivot, a journal of literary and interdisciplinary thought published by York University’s Graduate Program in English, for the 2023 edition.
