Professor Quirt is a former chair of the LA&PS Academic Policy and Planning Committee (APPC), and the LA&PS Committee on Curriculum, Curricular Policy, and Standards (CCPS), and is a member of the Indigenous Council Curriculum Development Subcommittee. She also served as Undergraduate Program Director in the Department of Equity Studies from 2020-21. In addition to her service to the University, she was a member of the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Race Relations for the City of Markham from 2010-2016, and currently serves on the Harmony and Peacebuilding Advisory Group, a committee of York Region residents. Her research explores political apologies, commemoration, and reparations in settler state Canada.

Tanzina Tahereen, PhD is the Associate Director of Faculty Curriculum at the Office of the Dean, Liberal Arts and Professional Studies at York University. She earned her BA in English and MA in Applied Linguistics and ELT from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She also holds an MA in Advanced Linguistics (Comparative perspectives) from Ghent University, Belgium. She then completed her PhD in cultural studies from Queen’s University, which focused on the politics of the standardized testing system in Bangladesh. Prior to joining York, Tanzina taught for 7 years as a tenured faculty member at a renowned University in Bangladesh. Here in Canada, she has also taught in various contract positions in Canada. Her research interest lies in social justice education, curriculum, internationalization, educational policies, anti-racist and anti-oppressive pedagogies, politics of education, South Asian studies, and postcolonial studies. In her current role, she oversees and engages in the overall curriculum development process in undergraduate and graduate level in LA&PS.

Janna Finkel-Freyger, PhD is a Curriculum Developer at the Office of the Dean, Liberal Arts and Professional Studies at York University. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) degree (York University) and a Master’s in Art History degree (Queen’s University). Janna holds a PhD in Education from York University’s Faculty of Education, which focused on blended learning in higher education. Her curriculum and research interests include e-learning & instructional design in higher education. She has also taught various post-secondary courses in liberal arts and art & design history. Janna assists and supports LA&PS faculty members with curriculum inquiries and concerns, and consults on course and program proposals.

Luciana Sobrinha Costa, MEd is a Curriculum Developer at the Office of the Dean, Liberal Arts and Professional Studies at York University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, in English Language and Literature degree (Federal University of Campina Grande – Brazil) and a Bachelor of Science, in Biological Sciences degree (State University of Paraiba – Brazil). Luciana holds a Master of Education in Adult Education degree from Yorkville University (Canada), which focused on second language learning and acquisition. She also holds a TESOL Diploma (Greystone College – Canada) and a Translation Certificate (Federal University of Campina Grande – Brazil). She will start a PhD in Education at York University in Fall 2023. Her curriculum and research interests include teaching & second language learning and acquisition. As work-related experience, she has taught ESL in Brazil and Canada, translated Scientific journals and articles, and worked as academic and operational manager at ESL schools. Luciana assists and supports LA&PS faculty members with curriculum inquiries and concerns and consults on course and program proposals.

Evan is the Curriculum Repository Officer (CRO) for the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies and supports both the Curriculum, Curricular Policy and Standards Committee and the Graduate Committee as the Curriculum Assistant at the Office of the Dean. He has long-standing connections to the York University community, having earned both his BA in Urban Studies (2009) and Master in Environmental Studies (2013) degrees here. Evan also holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Luxembourg (2018). His doctoral research analyzed governance, infrastructure and urban-regional planning in the UK.

Professor de Costa emigrated to Canada from Australia in 2002 to take up a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Institute on Globalization and the Human Condition at McMaster University. Prior to joining York in 2007, he also taught at Trent University in the Department of Political Studies. He is an active member of the York community, as Chair of the President’s Sustainability Council, and acting director of Las Nubes Project. His work has focused on the institutional and cultural contexts of Indigenous-settler relations in Australia and Canada, with publications on treaty-making processes, and on truth and reconciliation. He has held three Social Science and Humanities Research Council Standard (SSHRC) grants to examine the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
