Alison D. Crosby and M. Brinton Lykes are the winners of the 2021 Lemkin Book Award from the Institute for the Study of Genocide for their book Beyond Repair? Mayan Women’s Protagonism in the Aftermath of Genocidal Harm, (Rutgers, 2019).

The Lemkin Book Award committee, composed of an interdisciplinary group of scholars in the field of genocide studies, read over sixty books published in 2019 and 2020, and selected “Beyond Repair?” for its methodological rigor, clarity of argument, and sophisticated analysis of the ways in which Maya women have south redress for the genocidal violence carried out by the Guatemalan state.
