85-year-old LA&PS graduate took advantage of the Bridging Program for Women to achieve her goals

Hortense Valerie Anglin graduated from York University this fall at the age of 85. She made the decision to follow her interest in higher education and complete her degree in Religious Studies (Department of Humanities) after her husband passed away. Her completion of the program was made possible through LA&PS’s Bridging Program for Women.

The Bridging Program, offered by the School of Gender, Sexuality & Women’s Studies, is designed to support women who feel they may not be ready to pursue post-secondary education but who wish to. Their mandate is to prepare women for university by helping them develop skills like notetaking and writing, while also giving them greater confidence in themselves.

With her new degree under her belt, Hortense plans on continuing her studies further in Anthropology.
