Reese Simpkins
Reese Simpkins is Contract Faculty in the School of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies and the Department of Social Science, where he teaches in the Law and Society Program. He has taught in many different areas, including diversity and politics, sexuality studies, gender and the city, and sociolegal theories. As a feminist socio-political theorist, his teaching practices are based on an intersectional, decolonizing foundation and are structured to encourage students to relate course material to their everyday lives, with the understanding that there is no singular experience or authoritative account of the classroom. Taking place at the intersections of Trans Studies, Political Theory, and Science and Technology Studies, his research focuses on trans* embodiment and the production of new avenues for politics. His current research theorizes gender dysphoria as a process of creative becoming.
