Nick Rogers named Distinguished Research Professor

The good news for the Department continues to flow in….

At the Senate meeting President Shoukri announced that our long-standing colleague Nick Rogers will be one of two York faculty members to be honoured with the title of Distinguished Research Professor at the Spring Convocation for the Faculty of Liberal
Arts & Professional Studies on Wednesday 15 June at 10.30 a.m.

The rank of Distinguished Research Professor is awarded “for sustained and outstanding scholarly, professional or artistic achievement”. Nick’s research in British History is well known and respected by all of us at York, but it is also recognized as path-breaking by scholars and peers around the world. It is a real privilege to have someone of such
distinction as a colleague in the Department.

Department of History congratulates Nick on this major honour. It gives us all even more reason to attend Convocation on 15 June. It will be a splendid occasion, I’m sure. I hope that as many historians as possible will be there to celebrate our students, not least the large number of History PhD students who will be graduating, and our most distinguished colleague.
