President Shoukri has recently informed our colleague Bettina Bradbury that he has with great pleasure accepted the unanimous recommendations of the History Department’s Adjudicating Committee and the Senate Review Committee that she be promoted to the rank of Full Professorretroactively with effect from July 1, 2011.
In his letter President Shoukri comments on her tremendous publication record and the high esteem in which her research is held; he also praises her skills as a knowledgeable, organized and supportive teacher and mentor; he acknowledges the high regard in which her gifted teaching is held; and he praises the energy, dedication and innovation that she has brought to her remarkable amount of collegial and administrative service over the years, which has earned her the respect and appreciation of colleagues.
This is wonderful news and no surprise to any of us in the Department. It has taken some time for the Department’s enthusiastic decision to be approved at the various upper levels. Nonetheless, it is a moment to celebrate when everything is confirmed at the presidential level. It is without question most richly deserved.
On behalf of the Department, Bettina, many congratulations!
