The prize honours “the author of the most outstanding work published in English on any aspect of the fields of 17th- and 18th-century western European history”.
Sailing School is now a multiple-award winning book, as it has already garnered the John Lyman Book Award in Naval and Maritime Science and Technology by the North American Society for Oceanic History.
