Dear historians,
I am very pleased to be able to share with you now further good news for the Department on the research front.
Last week SSHRC announced the results of the 2015 SSHRC Insight Grant competition (on the York campus, as it transpired: see http://yfile.news.yorku.ca/2016/09/11/york-university-researchers-receive-more-than-7-million-in-sshrc-awards/). One of the twenty-five York projects awarded under this programme was that of our History and Classical Studies colleague Ben Kelly. His five-year project is on “The Roman imperial court: methods, models, and materials” and he has several York (and former York) collaborators on the project, including York faculty members (including Sarah Blake and Rob Tordoff), contract faculty (Angela Hug, Ryan Wei), former faculty (Jackie Neel), as well as faculty members from McMaster, Western, Johns Hopkins, Temple University and Radboud University Nijmegen.
On behalf of the entire Department, Ben, many congratulations on this achievement. Personally, I’m much looking forward to working on the project.
All best wishes, Jonathan
