Ian Milligan and Susan Roy appointed in tenure-track positions in Canadian History at the University of Waterloo

The Department of History would like to congratulate York History PhD Ian Milligan, who graduated in the June 2012 convocation, and Dr Susan Roy, SSHRC postdoctoral fellow for the past two years in the Department of History, for both gaining tenure-track positions in Canadian History at the University of Waterloo. The search committee was so impressed with their credentials and promise that they made the case to make two appointments, and the senior administration accepted the argument. This is marvellous news and the Department of History wish them both well in their new positions at the University of Waterloo.

Ian Milligan completed his doctoral dissertation on “Postwar English-Canadian Youth Cultures: A Digital History, 1945-1990” under the supervision of Craig Heron and was earlier this year awarded a SSHRC postdoctoral fellowship, while Susan Roy, whose book These Mysterious People: Shaping History and Archaeology in a Northwest Coast Community appeared from Queen’s/McGill University Press in 2010, has worked under Carolyn Podruchny’s supervision as a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow in the LA&PS History Department from 2010 to 2012.
