Josh Fogel’s contribution at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto

Department of History congratulates Josh Fogel, Canada Research Chair in Modern Chinese History, on the part he played in a very successful event at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto last Sunday. He gave a very well attended public lecture on “Sun Yat-sen and the International Arena on the Eve of the 1911 Revolution”, which marked the opening of two exhibitions to mark the centenary of China’s 1911 Revolution:

“1911 Revolution in China – Francis Stafford’s Photo Exhibition” and “Dr Sun Yat-sen and Family”

These were sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office and
supported by:
Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum, Hong Kong
York’s Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies
Richard Charles Lee Canada-Hong Kong Library, University of Toronto.

Kay Li from the Research office of LA&PS informed that the Department had a most
prominent presence at the event.

So, many thanks to Josh for all his efforts on this important initiative. It is our understanding that the exhibitions will be brought to York University Libraries the week of 7 November, when Scott Library will be exhibiting additional associated items from the Clara Thomas Collection and Special Collections. I’ll convey further information about this as soon as I receive it.

Congratulations, Josh, on playing a part in this important initiative.
