The final speaker in the Religious Studies series for 2021/2022 is Dr. Thabit A. J. Abdullah of the History Department who will share with us some of his ongoing work on the Mandaeans—a struggling religious community originally based in Iran and often associated with “gnostic” thought. This talk will be of particular interest to students in HUMA 3457 Gnosticism as well as courses on Islam, with whom the Mandaeans have had a fraught relationship over the centuries.
