Angella Amuron joined the IEP program with a clear objective: “to integrate professionally and compete favorably in the Canadian labor market, to build capacity in my field and bridge any gaps, to position myself for employment opportunities as well as network”.
Reflecting on her experience in the program, Angella affirms that "enrolling in the IEP bridging program was a good decision as a newcomer," she emphasized. She decided to choose York University because “the IEP program is recognized and respected, enrolling in the program positioned and set me up for employment opportunities, I believe it's partly the reason my current employer's talent acquisition specialist reached out to me”.
Explaining how the program held her succeed in the Canadian Labour Market she stated, "I gained updated professional knowledge and skills in my area of expertise and got exposed to the Canadian business and cultural landscape". This exposure, she explained, “was very relevant in enabling my professional integration and favorable competition in the Canadian labor market”.
Offering advice to fellow newcomers, Angella underscores the importance of setting priorities and staying focused. "It's very important to set priorities, including enrolling for IEP bridging programs or any other relevant programs to one's career path and stay focused, because there are lots of exciting distractions along the way - for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today," she advises.
