When Maryna Chahan moved to Canada from Ukraine, she brought with her extensive experience in financial analysis, business operations, and project management. However, despite her strong background, she faced a common challenge among internationally educated professionals - adapting to the Canadian job market.
“I joined the IEP program to gain a better understanding of the Canadian job market and business culture. Coming from Ukraine under the CUAET program, I had extensive experience in financial analysis, business operations, and project management, but I found that understanding local hiring practices, networking strategies, and workplace expectations in Canada was a challenge,” she explains.
A major obstacle was the emphasis on "Canadian experience", which made it difficult to secure roles that matched her qualifications.
