The School of Information Technology is privileged to welcome Prof. Arik Senderovich as a new full-time faculty member with the School. Prof. Senderovich’s research can be broadly positioned in the field of process mining having intersections with machine learning, optimization, and queueing theory. His recent interests include (but not limited to) automated simulation and queue mining (learning models from data), privacy preservation in schedule data, causal inference for process mining, and generative deep neural models for simulation. Prof. Senderovich applies his research in various domains such as call centers, hospitals, and public transportation systems.
“We are really privileged to be joined by Prof. Senderovich” said Sotirios Liaskos, Director of the School.
“He is another example of how ITEC draws strength from diversity of research perspectives and cultures. His expertise on process mining complements existing strengths on business processes management, adding a technical flavor from the specific point of view of analyzing data. Prof. Senderovich addition to the program is invaluable for the implementation of our data management and analytics strategy. I am looking forward to the great achievements and growth opportunities that his arrival will bring.”
Before joining ITEC, Prof. Senderovich was an Assistant Professor at the Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto), teaching courses on Fundamentals of AI, Machine Learning, and Management Analytics. Prior to that, he held an Assistant Professorship position at the Faculty of Information (University of Toronto) where he contributed to the development of the data science concentration. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering (2006), Master’s degree in Statistics (2012), and a Doctoral degree in Information Systems Engineering (2016), all three from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.
“I am excited I am to join ITEC and York University. I strongly believe that this is a great place to grow and develop my research and enjoy teaching ITEC’s diverse and smart cohort of students”, said Prof. Senderovich.
For the School, Prof. Senderovich will teach such courses as “ITEC3040 – Introduction to Data Analytics”, “ITEC2600 – Introduction to Analytical Programming” as well as a new graduate course in Business Analytics.
