DARE Project: The History of Cognac, 1870-1935
Program(s) of Study: Political Science & History
Project Supervisor: Marcel Martel

I hope this research can shed light on advertising practices in North America throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Project Description:

My research project focused on cognac advertisements in North America from 1970-1935. This primarily entailed researching advertisements in newspapers such as the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, etc. This allowed me to see how advertising for cognac changed over time and how certain events like prohibition effected the advertisements of cognac.

The Dean’s Award for Research Excellence (DARE) – Undergraduate enables our students to meaningfully engage in research projects supervised by LA&PS faculty members. Find out more about DARE.
