Program(s) of Study: Homelessness and Housing Instability: Building Understanding, Compassion, and Community Resilience
Project Supervisor: Jessica Braimoh
The project involved the investigation of media narratives over a five-year period (2017-2022), revealing how COVID-19 has impacted representations of homelessness in Hamilton, Ontario. I utilized different research methodologies, such as discourse analysis and coding, while engaging in knowledge mobilization activities. Through this, I hope media houses become aware of their bias or lack of information when it comes to homelessness and government officials work diligently to eradicate this social issue by creating better laws and public policy.
The Dean’s Award for Research Excellence (DARE) – Undergraduate enables our students to meaningfully engage in research projects supervised by LA&PS faculty members. Find out more about DARE.
