DARE Project: Unmasking Violence: Artists Imagining Finer Futurities
Program(s) of Study: Gender & Women's Studies
Project Supervisor: Gail Vanstone
I learned so much about the history of colonization in the nation known today as Canada and its present-day masks, one of which being “slow violence” which continues to wreak havoc on Indigenous Peoples. Throughout the research process, I have felt a range of emotions — humbled, heart-broken, furious — and filled with a desire to share what I have learned. The works I have compiled as part of this project are expansive in their content and the topics they cover but among many of them, there was a common theme: hope.
