Program(s) of Study: Political Science
Project Supervisor: Nergis Canefe
I hope my research on statelessness will have a significant impact by increasing awareness and understanding of the plight of stateless populations in the Middle East.
Project Description:
My DARE research project addresses the issue of statelessness among vulnerable populations, including Iraqi, Syrian, Palestinian, and Afghan communities in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt. The project aims to deepen our understanding of statelessness in the Middle East and develop practical skills in data management and analysis. As a researcher, I played a key role in collecting, organizing, and maintaining data on stateless populations. I contributed to creating and managing an open-access database, ensuring its quality and accessibility, and disseminating findings through academic and online channels. The Dean’s Award for Research Excellence (DARE) – Undergraduate enables our students to meaningfully engage in research projects supervised by LA&PS faculty members.
