DARE Project: A Matter of Life and Death: The Politics of Religious Diversity in Canadian Hospitals
Program(s) of Study: Law & Society
Project Supervisor: Amélie Barras

Although we think of religion and healthcare as not interacting, they share one commonality: they are both deeply concerned with fundamental questions related to life, death and human well-being. For this project, I worked alongside Professors Amelié Barras (York University) and Andrea Paras (Guelph University) and a mentor, Reem Mohammed, to gather relevant information about Mount Sinai's Jewish identity and EDI policies. By identifying how the language of multiculturalism and diversity is represented in hospitals, we can evaluate how it has become inclusive over the years as part of heritage and identity.

The Dean’s Award for Research Excellence (DARE) – Undergraduate enables our students to meaningfully engage in research projects supervised by LA&PS faculty members. Find out more about DARE.
