Lecture Topic: The Post-Colonial History of Selective BCG Vaccination in Britain: A Case of Epistemic Injustice in Healthcare?
Speaker: Professor Michael Bresalier (Swansea University, Dept. of History, Heritage and Classics, Epistemic Injustice in Healthcare - EPIC)

This talk explores the history of "selective" BCG vaccination policies for immigrant and ethnic minority populations at risk of tuberculosis in high-income countries. While widely recommended by the WHO since the 1990s, these policies have complex post-colonial roots. Professor Bresalier will discuss how Britain’s historical and epidemiological landscape shaped its vaccination strategies and examine the absence of immigrant and ethnic minority perspectives in policy discussions. The lecture will shed light on epistemic injustice in healthcare and vaccine hesitancy.

No RSVP required. Refreshments will be served.
